Grandview Parkway Construction Begins March 10 - Delays Expected

Grandview Parkway construction begins March 10- expect delays

Phase I of the Michigan Department of Transportation’s (MDOT’s) Grandview Parkway Project will begin the evening of Sunday, March 10th.

This phase will impact US-31/M-72 (Front St.) between Garfield Ave. and Peninsula Dr. and will require detours on city streets (see map below). School buses servicing Eastern Elementary School, East Middle School, Central High School, and Traverse City High School (east side) will need to be rerouted to accommodate the detours. Some delays are anticipated.

During the week of March 11-15, we will be analyzing the impact that the detours/traffic congestion has on getting students to/from school on time. Routing adjustments will be made as needed to reduce delay times as much as possible. Thank you in advance for your patience as we navigate the road construction season.

For students utilizing BATA busing, please note the current BATA shelter on Milliken Dr. and E. Front St. will not be used. Students can catch the same westbound Bayline temporarily at College Dr. and E. Front St. The shelter for eastbound buses at Fair St. will still be available. Route 14 to Traverse City High School will be free for everyone during the construction at all times. Bayline and Route 14 (airport) will both be completely free during this time as well.
