Daily Announcements - Nov. 7

Last night, several CHS band students traveled to Charlevoix to audition for the District Honor Band, a select "All-Star" group that performs in Harbor Springs in December. Students were rated and ranked amongst their peers from around Northern Michigan. Congratulations to the following students for their audition and placement: Malaya Sanchez: 5th Chair Clarinet, Abbie Gerkin: 3rd Chair Flute, Eleanor Longcor: 2nd Chair Baritone Saxophone, Cash Stawicki: 1st Chair Trombone, Teagan Kimbrell: 1st Chair Tuba, Samantha Summers: 4th Chair Horn, Hannah Seah: 6th Chair Clarinet, Will Bachert: 5th Chair Alto Saxophone. Way to go Trojans!

  • Congratulations to Tanner Cooley, Max Betten, and Helly Taylor for being selected to the Division 2 All-State Tennis teams! Tanner won 36 matches on his way to a #2 seed and quarterfinal appearance at the State Tournament at #1 singles. Max and Helly won 31 matches and defeated the #3 and #6 seeds on their way to the semifinals at the State Tournament at #1 doubles.

  • Good luck to Girls Volleyball who take on West tonight in district volleyball action! The game starts at 6:00pm at West. $7 admission and no passes accepted because it is a tournament game. Good luck and Go Trojans!

  • Save the Date: Senate is holding a blood drive November 22nd.  More details should be out soon!

  • Love books and creative writing? So do we! The Literature Club meets every Thursday from 3:02-4:00 P.M. in Mrs. Mazurek’s room, C134. Bring a good attitude and love for literature!

  • Are you interested in joining the National Honor Society this year? Join the NHS Applicant Google Classroom using code if62mc4 and complete your application; application opened November 1st. See Mrs. Puckett in C257 if you have questions.

  • Student Senate is hosting a Pet Food Drive now through Wednesday, November 13th. Students are encouraged to bring in pet food or gently used pet supplies. Please drop off donations in the boxes outside of each wing office or the main office. This drive is a competition against Traverse City West to see who can get the most supplies!

  • Are you interested in musical theater and looking for an opportunity to perform or learn more? CHS has a new club that’s looking for singers to join and show off their talents in a supportive environment! Please join the Google classroom using the code 2ulwwf6 by Friday, November 8th to indicate your interest in the Rendezvous Club!

  • All CHS Students and Staff are invited to see the final dress rehearsal for the fall musical, Seussical on Thursday, Nov. 14th at 6:00 pm in the auditorium for free! There will be a suggested $5 donation contribution to help offset the costs of the production. No assigned seating - doors open at 5:45 p.m. Please come and show your support for the cast, pit orchestra, student tech and staff who have been rehearsing since the last week of August.

  • Lunch Today: Popcorn Chicken, Cheese Calzone or Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara
