TCAPS Receives 19th Consecutive Certificate of Excellence in Annual Financial Reporting
Traverse City Area Public Schools (TCAPS) achieved the Certificate of Excellence (COE) in Financial Reporting for the 19th consecutive year for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). The Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) presented the award to TCAPS for the fiscal year 2023.
The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report is a voluntary audit. By participating in the audit, school districts demonstrate a commitment to financial transparency. TCAPS submits their Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for review annually by a team of financial professionals who provide feedback to improve future documents. In its most recent review of TCAPS, there were no comments noted for areas of improvement. A district’s participation can facilitate bond ratings and continuing bond disclosure processes.
“Having received this award for 19 years showcases TCAPS commitment to transparency and accurate reporting,” stated Superintendent Dr. John VanWagoner. “Our community can feel assured knowing TCAPS continues to maintain the highest level of financial stewardship.”
