LL News: 10.27.24 No School Friday, Halloween Parade & Conference Sign Ups
NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY: This Friday, November 1st, school is not in session. Students will return on Monday, November 4th.
LL HALLOWEEN PARADE October 31st: Join us this Thursday, October 31st at 9:20 a.m. at our outdoor track. Students should come to school wearing their costumes and bring a change of clothes. Parents can join the parade by walking around the side of the building and stand on the inside of the track. Our parade will move inside if the weather doesn’t cooperate. Please see the flyer below for information about how to participate and costumes that day. Flyer Here
FALL PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES: Our Fall 2024 Parent Teacher Conferences will be on November 7th (Mostly Virtual), November 12th (In Person) and November 14th (Parent Choice of Virtual or In Person). Please use SignUpGenius to schedule a time to meet with your child's teacher. You can sign up for conference times here. Parents can request any format (virtual or in person) on any of the evenings. We ask that dual households schedule one conference for their child. This helps everyone to be on the same page to support the student’s learning, it also allows the teacher to have enough time slots for all of the students in their class. . Sign up times for specials teachers are also available. Mrs. Wiliford (MUSIC) has an alternative conference date for LL on November 18th. If interested in signing up for a music conference, click here and select Nov. 18th on the calendar. Resource Room and Intervention Teachers will join student's homeroom teacher times. If you experience problems signing up, feel free to contact our office at 231-933-7800 or your child's teacher.
TEACHER CONFERENCE MEALS: We want to support our teachers and staff during parent-teacher conferences by providing them dinner on conference nights. See the link below to sign-up. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0F44ACAC29A0FBCF8-parent
RESOURCES FOR FAMILIES: If your family is in need of boots for your students or a weekly nonperishable food bag to come home in backpacks, please reach out to our front office or email burwinkeka@tcaps.net.
SKI CLUB 2025 is upon us! Join us on Thursdays beginning in January. The program includes a weekly lesson (at least 4) and weekly lift, with optional rental and Sunday add on. In addition, there is also open skiing in March (rental not included). Click here for more info/links to forms.
VETERAN ASSEMBLY: We will reveal how much is collected during our Veterans Assembly (in honor of Veterans Day) on November 8th @ 9:30 AM. Know a Veteran who would be interested in joining us for this honorary celebration? Please invite anyone who may be interested!
WELCOME: We are excited to introduce several new Staff Members joining the Long Lake Team! Please give a warm welcome to Mike Graham, who is joining us as a new Behavior Interventionist. Mike comes to Long Lake with a wealth of experience most recently as a Clinical Counselor. Mike is a full-time staff member to support student Social/Emotional Needs in our building. He is filling the vacancy of Jennifer Gresens, who transitioned to a new role mid October. We also feel fortunate to welcome Kathleen Blazejewski who is a retired School Social Worker serving our building! She has served TCAPS students in many buildings throughout her career in TCAPS and looks forward to getting to know Long Lake students in the coming weeks! Anna Bjoraker is also a support staff member at Long Lake! She works for Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency and serves in the School Success Partnership Program. This FREE, prevention focused program is available to Long Lake students who may be at risk for falling behind academically. She is able to connect families with community resources, provide extra support to students in school, assist families in overcoming barriers, provide small group support and increase school attendance. If interested in learning more about her resources, you can contact her at 231-493-8419 abjoraker@nmcaa.net
