About Montessori
All TCAPS Montessori programs follow the philosophy and methodology of Maria Montessori, which emphasizes a child-centered environment that develops character, skills and independent learning. TCAPS is one of the few Michigan public school districts to offer Montessori.
The Montessori approach envisions education as “an aid to life.” It is a philosophy of child development as well as an educational approach, which respects each child’s unique personality. The Montessori method allows for modification to the needs of the individual, regardless of the level of ability, learning style or social maturity. The focus of Montessori education continually changes in scope and manner to meet the child’s changing needs and interests.
Program Location
TCAPS Montessori offers a Toddler Montessori program for ages 18-36 months, a Primary Montessori classroom for ages 3-5, an Elementary Montessori School for ages 6-12, and an Adolescent program for ages 12-15. Extended day programs are available for primary and elementary students. To learn more, please contact TCAPS Montessori at 231.933.6420.
