College Application Process

What You Need to Know

  • Most students apply online through college websites. However, other options are available. (See below)
  • Make sure college entrance requirements and application deadlines are met.
  • Check application status online to make sure that all sections have been received.
  • Watch announcements and CHS Counseling Office bulletin boards for college visits, open houses, and scholarship opportunities.
  • Allow counselors and teachers three weeks to write your recommendation.

 

  1. Complete application with any required essay and pay application fee online.

    • Set up an account - you’ll need an email address
    • Select destinations – colleges, scholarship funds, NCAA, etc.
    • Confirm request – a small fee may be required
    • Track delivery – you’ll get email notifications when delivered
    • Remember to send final transcript in June to college or university you are planning to attend
  3. Send ACT/SAT test scores directly from ACT- External Linkwww.actstudent.org or SAT -External Link www.collegeboard.com  

 

  1. First, talk with your counselor and teacher(s) about writing any required recommendation(s).
  2. Then email those teacher(s) and counselor, as requested on the Common Application.
  3. Complete application with any required essay and pay application fee online.

    • Set up an account - you’ll need an email address
    • Select destinations – colleges, scholarship funds, NCAA, etc.
    • Confirm request – a small fee may be required
    • Track delivery – you’ll get email notifications when delivered
    • Remember to send mid-year transcripts after 1st semester and final transcript in June to college or university you are planning to attend
  5. Send ACT/SAT test scores directly from ACT- External Linkwww.actstudent.org or SAT -External Link www.collegeboard.com  

 

  1. Fill out application completely. Type or print neatly in black ink.
  2. Attach application fee, if applicable. Make check payable to college.
  3. Print “High School Counselor Form” if required by the college/university. Bring a 9”X12” mailing envelope addressed to college with three stamps in upper right hand corner to Mrs. Carra in the counseling office. CHS mails this form. Complete application with any required essay and pay application fee online.

NAIA registration is required for nearly 300 member institutions that make up the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).
